All About My Mama

Happy Mother's Day! I know I'm saying it a little late, but hey, better late then never! I hope you each had and absolutely fantastic day yesterday. Normally I would do a weekend recap; however, I wanted to take this time to tell you all a little about my mother.

You know a lot of people say they have an amazing mother but I must say, mine pretty much takes the cake. She is truly one of the best parents around. I have seen her be this selfless person with each of us all the time. What ever we need she has always made sure we had it, even if it meant she had to do with out.

I am blessed because she and I have a really good realtionship. Now, I'm not saying we're perfect. We have our spats every now and then, but so do most people. We just always hug and makeup.

My mother is the definition of strength and perseverance. While raising six children she made her way through nursing school (with honors might I add). Now she has fulfilled a life long dream of being a nurse and is a wonderful one to boot!

She is one of the main reasons I have made it this far in college. Seeing her determination has been so inspiring. I know if she can do it then so can I.

My mama is probably one of the best people at giving advice. If I ever have a problem that I can't figure out she is the first one on my list of people to call. By the end of the conversation I'll know exactly what to do.

My mama is the glue that holds my family together. No matter what trials we may face, she is always there to pick us up and and dust us off. She knows what to do in the midst of every situation and  never sways through even the hardest of times.

Mama, I love you more than you could ever begin to comprehend! Thank you for helping me become the woman I am today. You are amazing!

Five On Friday

I can't believe how fast time is flying by... I feel like I just blinked and it's already Friday. I'm guessing it had to do with the fact that I have been completely swamped this week. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm welcoming with weekend with open arms!

I have some really big news to share with you guys... I got a new job! Now I adore my current job: Working with children is my thing and It brings me so much joy. However, I had to move to a job where I could begin to progress. So, I got completely blessed and snatched one up at the local hospital. I am kind of worried because it's second shift... I'm scared I'll never be able to see my friends and family. However, it works perfectly with my school schedule. So basically this teaching me that when you become an adult you have to make some sacrifices, right? #adultprobs

The fundraiser for the Rwanda team went fantastic! I managed to only spill three drinks, and drop one bowl of salad. That in it self is a big deal, but what's an even bigger deal is that we made over 500 dollars! WHOOHOO! I would say that's a pretty successful day in my book. Thank you to everyone who took time out of your day to come and support us! Y'all are awesome!

Yesterday I happened to come across this quote...

It is exactly what I needed to hear. Y'all patience is one of my biggest battles... I struggle with it in every aspect of my life (except children and animals, I've got all the patience in the world for them). Patience with my career, music, traffic, people, a relationship... Pretty much anything you can think of. This really reminded me that God knows what he is doing. A painter takes his time working on his art. We can't rush the greatest painter while he is working on his masterpiece, we must have patience.

I'm having hair envy, purple hair envy that is. I have been wanting to dye my hair purple for quite sometime; however, I've been to scared to make the commitment, until now. They have these beautiful highlights called peekaboo highlights.

Except instead of the yellow I would choose...

This lovely color! What do you guys think??

Echosmith has released a new single this past week and I flipping love it! Take a listen for yourself.

Today I'm linking up with Rebecca.

April Favorites

Happy Hump day! Today is going to prove to be very exciting as the Barnabas X team has our first official fundraiser tonight. We will taking over the wait staff at a local pizza place. Now anyone who knows me knows that I am one of the clumsiest people in the world. Therefore, I am foreseeing that tonight is going to be very interesting, to say the least. In shorter terms, I feel bad for whoever gets me as a waitress...

I am one of those people who is seriously OCD over their facial routine. I can't lay my head down on the pillow at night without taking all my makeup off. It will drive me insane! The other night when I was over at my friend Bethany's house she let me try her Simple Cleansing Water.

This stuff works wonders, It completely dissolves the makeup right off your skin, and can replace your face washing routine. However, I simply use it to take off my makeup because of my OCDness. ha!

Another facial product that Miss Bethany recommended was the Origins Night cream and Daily moisturizer .

These two products have transformed my skin. I've always been the girl to pile on the makeup in attempts to cover my awful looking skin; However, now I feel comfortable leaving the house with only tinted moisturizer and a little powder. That's a HUGE thing for me.

Caress recently came out with a new body wash and the smell is just wonderful!

I don't think the smell lasts the full 12 hours, but I will say I can smell it for a good few hours after I use it.

It's spring time which means it's time to put up those wonderful fall scented candles and pull out the fresh spring ones. One of my hands down  favorite Spring candle is Peach Bellini.

Now if only they would make it into a body wash...

If you are a big fan of the It's a 10 product your going to love what I have to say next. I have discovered a drugstore product that is virtually the same! It's called Essence Ultime 11 in 1 Repair & Moisture.

This stuff works almost just as good as the It's a 10 product, yet it's a fraction of the cost. Can't get much better than that!

So that's it for my favorites. What have been some of your favorite things this past month?

Oh, I'll be sure and let you all know how tonight goes. If you feel like having some comic relief and live close by come on out! I'm sure it's going to be quite hilarious.

The Weekend Diaries

Happy Monday my fellow peoples! Wow, oh wow, this week has been full of so many surprises and awesome new opportunities, which I seriously can't wait to tell you all about. However, If I were to try and tell you about them all and do a weekend recap, we would be here ALL day and I'm sure you don't want me talking your ears off.  So, I'll jump right into this weekends adventures!

AVENGERS, AVENGERS, AVENGERS!! Oh. My. Word. This movie was everything I had hoped for. I was beginning to get a little worried after seeing a few people post about how much they disliked Age of Ultron, but if you cant tell, I think they did a spectacular job. The casting for the new characters is spot on! I mean Elizabeth Olson did an amazing job as the Scarlet Witch! If you get the chance, go see it.

After having a sleepover with Bethany, we decided to wake up and tackle some shopping. I have been in some serious need of cute, summery shirts. As simple as it sounds, finding cute, summer tops was just about impossible. Luckily, Old Navy had my back! I found two shirts and a beautiful Necklace. After our long day of searching, we decided to hit up Starbucks during their happy hour! I mean how can you turn down half priced Frappuccinos?? As soon as we pulled up I saw a poster for a S'mores frapp. OH. MY. GOSH. That thing is soooo good! Do yourself a favor and give one a try.

Sunday, I woke up and headed to church where we had an awesome service!

Before church selfie because I was feeling really pretty. #noshameinmygame
By the way, this was one of the Shirts and the necklace I picked up from Old Navy.

After church Bethany and I decided to spend the day hanging with the girls. After much deliberation, we finally choose to watch a movie on Netflix called Camp.

When the movie first started I thought it was going to be a one of those really cheesy movies with awful acting. I couldn't have been more wrong... Well, there was still bad acting, but the message of the movie was so good... It was about children who are emotionally broken, attending a summer camp. This camp was a place where those children could go to feel safe, loved, and accepted. It shows the struggles and fears that so many children in America are faced with. But what really broke my heart is at the end of the movie I figured out that it is based on actual events. #cueemotionalbreakdown So many children all over the world are hurting so deeply. I wish I could just take each and every one of those hurting children and simply love them.

After the movie can you guess where we headed?? That would be Starbucks... I'm telling you guys, I can't get enough of this Frapp!

Then we took it old school for supper and made some delicious pigs in a blanket.

That was it for my weekend! What did you do?

Five on Friday

Oh My Lawd! The weather in SC the past few days has been nothing short of glorious! who doesn't love sunny and 75?? I honestly thought all that rain was going to make me go crazy. With the weather being so sunny and nice it's made me really want to pack up and head to those white sandy beaches... *sigh* If only my pocket book felt the same way... #brokecollegkidprobs

I am so beyond excited for this weekend! Wanna know why? Me and my family are headed down to Georgia to see my Nana. It's hard having family that lives far away, especially when you are really close to them. I hate only getting to see her every few months, so this trip is welcomed with opened arms.

On Wednesday afternoon I had lunch with my friend Brooke. Brooke and I have been singing together on our church's worship team for a few months now; however, we've just started to get close. I can tell already that me and this lovely lady are going to be good friends for a VERY long time! I mean how can you not be besties with someone who sings Part Of Your World and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious just as loud as you do?

Okay, so I've decided to try and do something really crazy guys... drink 90 ounces of water a day. Do Ya'll know how hard that is?? I mean oh my goodness. I feel like all I'm ever doing is drinking water. So needless to say, if anyone has any tips send them my way!

One of my BFF's Jennifer recently became certified to teach Zumba and has just launched her own class. Oh my! Zumba is so much fun! I honestly don't even feel like I'm working out, It's more like a fun party with all your girlfriends. If you've never tried it before, do yourself a favor and find a class near you.

Lastly, I leave you with this darling picture of Hampton and I. I mean look at that adorable, big, cheesy grin! I can't take it.

Happy Birthday Katie!

Oh my word... I do so believe South Carolina has turned into the Rain forest. It has done nothing but rain for the past two weeks! Pretty sure we've had about three feet of it. I guess the saying is true, April showers bring May flowers!

Back to the main mission of this post, Katie bugs birthday.

I can't believe my little bug is 14! Wow. Seriously making me feeling old. #oldestsisterprobs

We pretty much spent the whole weekend just hanging out and having a grand ole time.

Us girls decided to tackle shopping and movie to celebrate the Birthday girl. We went to see Paul Blart Mall Cop 2. I wasn't to impressed with this one... but I'm a huge Kevin James fan so it was okay by my book.

Cuties getting ready. :)

Okay, so I have the hardest time finding sunglasses to fit my face... having chipmunk cheeks has it's negatives. However, Target had these on sale, and what do ya know? They fit my face!

In order for you to understand my next picture you MUST watch this video. It's a hilarious 6 minutes you wont regret.

Channeling my inner Amy Schumer!

Hello Sunday funday! Sunday involved going to church, typing up a presentation, and watching The Muppet's Most Wanted. Which by the way, is a pretty cute movie.

We also did a good bit of face timing with this kool kid over the weekend!

Let me introduce you to Kahlil.

That's it for my weekend! What did you do?

Just A Simple Hello

Life has a way of completely taking over at times. You get so caught up in the motions that you forget to take time out of your day to do simple things you love. Well, this is what happened to me over the past month or so.

Working full time, going to school, being very involved in church, and trying to maintain relationships can take it's toll on you. However, this past week I lost a friend due to being hit while riding his bicycle. His sudden death really hit me hard. We never know when our last day could be. It's time to just stop living a life of monotony and take the time to really enjoy every minute of this beautiful life we've been given.

So I decided to start back up on with one of the things I love to do the most, blog.

Okay, I'm going to give everyone a little update on what's going on in my life and some posts you can look forward to.

1. Well, I tried super hard at Spanish but ended up having to drop it. I seriously studied for almost forty hours for one single test and I made a 60. I was done... But hey, you win some and you lose some, right?

2. One of my dear childhood friends Candice, is getting married Saturday. Oh My goodness! I can't believe it happening. I can remember us talking late into the night about our weddings and now it's almost time for her big day! Really makes me realize just how fast time flies by.

3. A couple of of weeks ago one of my good friends Summer, asked me if I would like to join her on a trip to New Zealand. Um, Heck ya! We are planning the trip for May 2016. I'm too excited!

4. The Barnabas X team is starting to plan our 2015 trip to Rwanda. I can't wait to go back to my home away from home and see my Rwandan family.

5. Now for what I'm most excited about... God is doing some truly phenomenal things in my life! He is changing me and guiding me in ways that I've never experienced before. It has set my heart on fire and made start seeking him relentlessly. I feel in my spirit that he about to turn my life upside down and do some wondrous things. I can't wait to share with you what all he is doing!

Whelp, that's it for today. It feels so good to be emptying out all my thoughts to you guys again. I've missed it. I hope you all have a blessed Monday.

Love, Amber

Valentine's Day!

Oh it's that time of the year again... can't you just feel it? The warmness in the air, the deep gazes shared between lovers, the abundance of roses and over priced chocolates...

Valentine's day.

Now I'm not one to hate on a day that's supposed to be for love; however, I do feel that it's a little lot over rated. I think it should be more along the lines of spending time with the person/people you care about. Not spending 100's of dollars on them. Just my personal opinions there. :)

Anyways, while on Pinterest I found some ubber cute Valentine's Day inspiration. I hope you enjoy!

I think this outfit is just perfect for a more laid back date night. I would seriously wear this all year long. I have always really liked the look of a white shirt with bluejeans and when you add the red accents it makes the whole outfit pop. I have most of these pieces on hand, which makes me extremely happy!

Ohhhh... This outfit has me swooning... that gorgeous red skirt with the addition of a lace shirt is to good to be true. It would be beautiful for a night on the town with the girlfriends or a classy evening that special man in your life. I will be adding this to my clothing collection!

I couldn't possibly leave this one out. How cute is it?? Loving the rain boots with the heart sweater.

You can't do Valentine's Day with out some festive nails. I need to figure out what read glitter nail polish they used. It's on point!

Lastly, Valentine's Day isn't the same without some sweets! These brownies look too good to be true!

So, that's it for my Pinterest inspiration post! Do you guys have any big plans this weekend??

I will be writing a paper, making a presentation, and studying Spanish. I'm actually really thankful I'm single this weekend. #aintgotnotimeforaboo

However, I'm hoping to squeeze in a trip to the movies. I really want to see the DUFF movie. It looks hilarious! Plus, Robbie Amell is some kinda fine! I wouldn't mind seeing America Sniper either. I guess we'll see!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend with lots of love!

Friday Favorites

Another week has come and gone. I don't know about Y'all but this one flew by for me. I would be saying thank God for Friday, but to be honest, I don't get a weekend this week. I have my first Spanish exam Tuesday, so I will be working full time in the glorious job of understanding Spanish. #sayaprayer. Hopefully, you all have more exciting plans for the weekend!

Now let's get started with my first Friday favorites!

Linking up with AmandaKarli, and Andrea

On Saturday Canaan and I decided to go look for her perfect wedding dress. She found the most perfect dress at a local bridal shop, but is sorta torn because the dress is a whopping 2,000 dollars. Needless to say, I can understand her dilemma...

Monday night's have quickly become one of my favorite nights of the week! Me and my good friend Jennifer have Bachelor nights at her house. It's so much fun talking about all these crazy girls with a bestie!

Plus, who would ever resit some sweet baby loving!

My church is doing a lifestyle change through the month of February. This includes a fast (growing spiritually), working on the physical body, and giving out to the community. One of the things our pastor worked out for us is a free Gym membership through out the month. I have been LOVING going to the gym. It seriously makes you feel a billion times better. So guys, take that step and get into a gym or engage in some form of physical activity! It's so worth it.

Tuesday, I made this good fantastic chicken burrito bowl for dinner. Man was this thing yummy! The only thing I will do different next time is use brown rice instead of white. Please give it a try! I promise, you will not be disappointed.

I'm taking my first education class this semester and I absolutely love it. Proof is by the 97 I made on my first exam. Oh yea, I showed that exam who's boss!

This concludes my first Friday Favorites. I hope you enjoyed it! So, it leaves me with one thing left to say... what are your plans for the weekend?
