Year Recap

Happy New Year Everyone! Sorry this post is a little late... I lost my laptop charger... #bloggerfail Shall we get started? 2014 has been one of the best years of my life! I honestly don't know if 2015 can possibly top it. I had so many meaningfully experiences this past year, that I couldn't possibly recap them all, so I'm just going to go with a couple.

My mother graduated college, with honors might I add! Countless times throughout the years, I have witnessed my mom lock herself up in her room for days studying, she missed events for her children, and cried countless tears during this journey. But guys, she did it! I'm so proud of how hard she worked to make one of her biggest dreams a reality. She really is amazing!

In 2014, I achieved one of the biggest goals I have ever set for myself, I hit the 200 hundred pounds lost mark! Yes, I did say two hundred. This journey has honestly been one of the most challenging tasks I have ever embarked upon... But I did it. Let me be the first to say, Good Lord was it hard! I'm a legit, junk food junkie, so choosing carrots over ores can be difficult at times. #thestruggleistooreal

Over this past year I have made some pretty incredible friends. Like really y'all, God totally blessed me in the friend department! One of the friends I have been blessed with, is Paige {"technically" we became friends in October of 2013, but we got really close this year}. I have experienced so many "firsts" with this chick by my side
{ an airplane ride, a trip over seas, bus ride, train ride, the list could go on and on} and I wouldn't trade it for a thing. She is such an amazing, special, person and I look forward to many more years as BFF's!

Lastly, Africa.... There are no words within the English dictionary to express just what Africa did to me. Going on this trip was the best decision I have EVER made in my life. You know, I left here hoping, and somewhat expecting, to influence people's lives; However, I never realized how much they would transform and impact my own life. I could talk about Africa for days, but I'll save most of that for an upcoming post. I will say this, I may have came back to the United Sates, but a huge piece of my heart will forever reside in Rwanda.

I'm so excited to see what this year has in store! What was one of your favorite memories from 2014?

  1. As someone who has seen you transform with my own eyes, I can't help but say how amazed and seriously proud of you I am. You have grown (and shrank...lol) as a human being. I do believe your trip to Africa has changed you. And for the better, because when you came back I could see the enlightenment in your eyes. Amber, you truly are one of the most kind, loving people I have ever met and it's a JOY to know you and have you in my life!
